Air Service Development & Implementation

AIR SERVICE DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION

Collectively we have a near century of experience of working in air service development with airports and airlines and can provide the following services:

·       Air service development strategy

·       Route and network profitability analysis

·       Business plans

·       Market audit

·       Due diligence for airport transactions

We have worked with airports and investors in airports all over the world to help them identify and quantify market opportunities, develop clear growth strategies and deliver new air services. The process is both science and art.

Data. Evidence. Analysis. These all help to determine where opportunities may exist through identifying gaps in the market, competitive threats, underlying trends in both demand for and supply of air services, and staying close to evolving airline strategies and network plans.

But air service development is also an art. Knowing where to prioritise resources, which route targets can justify the most investment, and how to make a compelling case to an airline all benefit from years of experience and having a strong and extensive network of contacts.

Case Study:

We worked with Avinor when there was a change of leadership in the Air Service Development team to help the team look afresh at the air service development opportunities. At the time there were no air services to China as there was no bilateral agreement in place between Norway and China.

We demonstrated to the team that China was a potentially important market and that the barriers to entry could be overcome. In the four years after we worked with Avinor passenger traffic between Norway and China grew by 64% and the first direct service to China commenced in June 2019.

Kingston, Ontario, like most destinations around the world, faced a mass exodus of air service in 2020 as a direct result of the COVID-10 pandemic. The City of Kingston and Tourism Kingston reached out to John at Midas Aviation to assist us in attracting new air service to our regional airport. Midas Aviation was actively involved in all the planning and development that went into this initiative, from providing contacts to supporting contract development. The result of working with Midas Aviation is that Kingston has been able to attract a new air service, reconnecting our city with Canadian and international air travel destinations. I strongly recommend any community needing air service support to connect with Midas Aviation.
