Willie Walsh makes his presence felt at IndiGo; will Norse survive the next round of strategic options, will BA get their B777 fleet in order, what's the latest with the TAP sale?

Three days in, and “Slasher” Walsh has his first target downed, with IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) cancelling the Norse damp lease from the end of October. Amsterdam survives with a change of gauge, but all other European markets go until the A350’s arrive…whenever that may be. One down, how many more to go?

Meanwhile, Norse Atlantic Airways are once again looking at “strategic options”, they’ve been looking for so long and have yet to find an answer, or is that final answer getting closer?

British Airways seem to have an issue with their B777 fleet at London Gatwick just as the peak weeks require full operations; five cancellations on the BA2037 in one month (16%) is taking the mickey for a long-haul service.

Last two standing on the TAP sale and it’s not the one at Bathstore.com! Binding offers from both AF/KL and LH are now in for consideration; the question is: do the two offers really know what they are binding themselves into?

American Airlines warns of the high price of oil as it eats into their profits and indeed every other airline. Maybe some questions around hedging strategy or not, labour costs and productivity levels compared to their local rivals may be worth looking at or is the price of oil a fortunate diversion?
