Slow hand-clap to those French ATCs' strike affecting Europe, SAS's new lease of life under Skyteam, and go-Indigo-go new Manchester and Amsterdam flights
Play times over, at least for the Icelandic carrier that has decided to leave the US market. Low yield connecting traffic via Keflavik has always been challenging for all but one hashtag#airline, and so it proves again... Why millionaires try, aside from to become broke, defies all logic, and whoever advises them otherwise isn’t being all that credible.
Well played, those very few French #ATC controllers who, over the weekend, managed to ruin thousands of holidays for hard workers across Europe. It's become repetitive, boring, and shouldn’t be allowed, given the strategic importance of their roles, but it feels as much cultural as anything. Do you think airlines actually build their revenue budgets factoring in such strikes, after all, they are yearly events?
Good to see #SAS in full recovery mode, ordering new aircraft under their new ownership. SkyTeam feels a better strategic fit for the airline than Star, but only time will tell. It also shows that not everyone has to be dependent on hashtag#Airbus or #Boeing... (although most are.)
And finally, IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) has launched Manchester and Amsterdam, which should shake the market up a bit. Large indirect flows and competitive pricing should make the services a success, although seasonality may be an issue over the winter, but that’s at least 25 weeks away!
