Mixed Fortunes Across Aviation:

Boeing's Q1 results were slightly better than expected last week, but still a very long way to go in their recovery, and China’s refusal to accept any new US-manufactured aircraft is an unwelcome development. It may have flushed out some short-term opportunities for a few carriers, but with 100-plus aircraft scheduled for delivery to China, Boeing will want the issue to go away soon.

Big shout to China Southern Airlines reporting a US$3.4 Million net profit for 2024……..at least they were profitable, but for an airline of that size, in a great year for the industry, hardly a great set of numbers?

Two of the USA’s big three legacy airlines are unable to provide year-end guidance in their latest quarterly results issued last week. Seems that it’s the US domestic market where consumer confidence has been most impacted, and international outbound travel remains strong this summer; what can we read into that...?

Gatwick offers up the necessary concessions that should get the green light for the second runway. Taken a long time to get to this point, but that much-needed capacity should surely get approval now. We watch with interest.
